Monitor cable % copper yield

In the past I've mixed in the few monitor/video cables I got in with my 55% yield wire with no issues, getting about $1/lb. But now I'm going to have at least a couple hundred pounds of this wire to turn in. Any experience with this volume? Just want to be prepared ahead of time. The next lowest grade is like 30% yield for about $.50/lb Thanks

Up here they dont deal with grades. Its either low or high grade. High being romex and low being the monitor cable. One yard is 70c/1.20 for low/high. Another is $1.00 a lb no matter what it is. Thats the best I could tell you. Personally in your case I would contact high Voltage processing on this board. Im sure he would do a shipment deal and give you far, far better than any yard around,

Today I broke down two boxes of VGA monitor cables. Most had ferrite rings on each end, though a few only had one.

Starting weight: 90 pounds

End result:

51 lbs insulated wire
21 lbs gold plated connectors
18 lbs ferrite rings for shred pile

Most places don't buy coax, I put what little I get in with my shred.

Those VGA Monitor cables sell for $24.99 each at Best Buy ....

Might want to check on selling them ,,, as some new Monitors dont come with them,, you have to buy them extra... E-bay....

Thanks for the good suggestion but I had already looked on ebay and wasn't real excited about the prices they were getting. By the time I dealt with ebay and paypal fees, shipping supply costs, etc., I don't think I'd make much more than I'll get for scrap and it would be a lot more effort. Plus it could take a long time to sell that many on ebay and I don't have a ton of storage space. I am selling a lot of other misc items from this lot on ebay though, definately a good place to sell real specific electronic items.

Took all my wire in today. High Voltage had offered me a very competitive rate but he is something like 6 or 7 hours from me and hauling/shipping it there wasn't looking to be profitable. I still appreciate his offer though.

My yard pays about 10% more if you have over 250 lbs and I knew i was going to be close so I was a bit nervous. I ended up with about 8 boxes, bins and trash cans stuffed full of monitor cable, usb cable, CAT5 cable, parallel port wire, and power cords. It ended up being 260 lbs at $1.08 for $280.80.

I got a lot of other goodies in this lot including 100s of computer switch boxes used to edit video. The case is solid aluminum and has a good sized Peripheral board in each. I've broken down less than half and took in 64 lbs of aluminum at $.48/lb

$311.50 payday for a car load or wire and aluminum.

Add that to the $140 of little plastic fiber optic wire adapters I sold from this lot today on ebay and its been a great day. I still have maybe 150 lbs of this weird data coax like wire to deal with. Might take it in seperate and see if they give me the low wire rate for it since it is multi stranded.
